Conte made this know while speaking at a press conference on Tuesday ahead of Chelsea home game against Swansea. All Olympic sports receive funding from the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) with the funds based on criteria including results and success. Italy’s defeat to Sweden in a qualification playoff means the country’s football association (FIGC) will be given a smaller slice of the cake, with other sports earning greater shares. “We’ve got to look at Olympic qualification, women’s football and rankings,” Giovanni Malago, the president of CONI, told Sky Sport Italia. “We’re going to have to discuss with the future FIGC president how we can obtain better results. “Certain parameters and criteria are involved in the distribution [of funds] and football is going to take a reduction of €2.6 million, which will impact on about seven to eight percent of our overall contributions.” Malago added that the cutback “really should have been far superio

S P O R T S The Spanish top football league, La Liga, has disclosed its plans to close the gap in revenues between it and the English Premier League, in the next ten years. La Liga’s president, Javier Tebas, who made this known late on Tuesday, said the league was determined to expand its international audience. Tebas said the EPL earned about 40 percent more than the Spanish league, which draws in some 1.7 billion euros ($2 billion) a year through television rights. According to him, La Liga’s biggest advantage was the quality of its clubs and players. “I have no doubt that within 10 years we will practically be equal to the Premier League or at least within 10 percent,” he said at the opening of a La Liga office in Brussels. “The main difference for now was that the British market itself was bigger than Spain’s. “On an international level there is less of a difference, but that’s our main objective – to get closer to the Premier League,” Tebas said. S P O R T S The Nigeria Football Federation have confirmed that FIFA will hold one of their 12 FIFA Executive Football Summit (EFS) meetings in Lagos, Nigeria. The FIFA Executive Football Summit meeting is expected to hold between November 2017 and March 2018. Nigeria is expected to host the summit on the 20th February 2018 and the NFF have picked Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island as venue and hotel accommodation for the big event. The summit is a gathering of representatives of around 20 member associations who are expected to offer constructive dialogue in a two and half-day workshop sessions. “Nigeria has been selected as a Member Association to host one of the 12 FIFA Executive Football Summit meetings happening between November 2017 and March 2018, as part of FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s vision of ‘bringing FIFA back to football and football back to FIFA,” the NFF President Amaju Pinnick said in a media release on Tuesday. “This is a very important event on the FIFA calen

This was confirmed by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) on their official website on Tuesday, following a meeting by its Referees’ Committee on Monday in Cairo, Egypt. VAR was first used at the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup in Japan. S P O R T S Sevilla head coach Eduardo Berizzo underwent successful surgery on Tuesday after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, the Spanish club said. The 48-year-old’s condition was made public after his side came from three goals down to draw 3-3 with Liverpool in the Champions League last week. The club say Berizzo’s recovery period will depend on his “post-operative progress in the next few days”. Assistant manager Ernesto Marcucci is taking temporary charge of the side. Berizzo was appointed Sevilla head coach in the summer on a two-year deal, following a three-year stint at Celta Vigo.
